She is DIFFERENT
Don‘t be indifferent. It can always happen to you or the one‘s you love.. Sometimes even few good words are enough. If you have experienced the same or something similar you can write or call us. Maybe we‘ll be able to advice or just simply to comfort.
We are Lithuanian family that has a lovely 6 year old daughter named Kamilė. She was born a healthy girl, but suddenly one day our lives turned upside down. When she was one year and three months old, she contracted the herpes virus encephalitis. Kamilė spend month in intensive care. The residual effects of encephalitis: cerebral palsy (uncoordinated walking), pseudobulbar
palsy (have difficulty chewing, swallowing food), strong language development disorders, sleep disorders, significant behavioral and language disorders.
After three months the epileptic seizures began. This repeats everyday until now and seriously disrupts her development, mental capabilities and limits Kamilės autonomy. Kamile is diagnosed with the drug-resistant form of symptomatic generalized epilep Camille suffers from seizure 10 or more times a day apart from seizures in night time.
Currently Kamilė attends a special kindergarden named „Čiauškutis“. However, due to lack of finance there is no assistants (that are really needed for our special epilepsy needs) and the number of specialists is limited. Special needs are excluded, the additional employment and educational programs are very limited too. The State does not provide a full support to these children and their families, so parents has to care of everything themselves. Such children
like Kamilė are invited to attend other special kindergardens together with children who have strong disabilities. There are more specialists. However, our wish is to integrate Kamilė into healthy environment, so that she could develop learning from healthy children.
Our greatest wish is to help our daughter to recover and gain more independence so that she
wouldn‘t become a burden to society. Kamilė requires a special assitance: educational institution with a specific program and the healthy environment, speech therapist, special teacher, occupational therapist, physical therapist, assistant (for each day of epileptic seizures) and additional targeted activities such as arts education, hipoterapy, massage, therapy of sand, etc
Currently Kamilė is trying all of these therapies and it gives her very good results: her walking has improved, she began to understand the environment better and repeat words a lot more, also she already knows all the vowels and few consonants. All that we have to give her as soon as possible because tomorrow may be too late. However, due to the financial possibilities of the
family, we can not afford to help Kamilė because the required amount to meet the specific needs of a month ~` 1250 eu .We want that Kamilė would receive a full help of specialists and would be educated in a healthy environment right now, because she needs it. There is no time to waste. We are very concerned about her future.
In order to help ourselves and other families raising children with special needs we have established The non-profit organization named “Padėk Užaugti“ (Help to grow). Web address

The goal of organization is integration of children with special needs into a healthy society.
Also to look for all the assistance and support to families raising children special needs.
Our vision is a “Healthy lifestyle” mini kindergarden-school with multi-center, which would be not only for diurnal use, but also for weekends and evenings activities.
The establishment of this center would help to structure the special assistance, reduce the financial cost to families raising children with special needs.
It would also create jobs for professionals and a support group for parents with children with special needs.
We kindly ask you do not stay indifferent. Only due to your charity this little girl can grow and develop. Her disability is not visible, but inside is very strong and is in need of immediate
assistance. For the truth of the facts you can require a meeting.
We would highly appreciate the valuable information about our daughter diagnoses and possible treatments for epilepsy (which is very detrimental to Kamilės development) in our country and
abroad.
It is sad, though, we are very happy to have our wonderful daughter.
